A twin falls experience is uncommon for one site. Dark View Falls is a unique attraction not yet fully explored. They are situated some
three miles from Richmond and are relatively easy to access.
The lower Falls is a single stage waterfall of some 104 feet, slightly higher than the Falls of Baleine. The pool at the bottom is about two feet deep and not conducive to a proper swim. One can, however, enjoy a giant shower and safe bathing. The pool trickles into a small stream.
There is a footbridge constructed of bamboo, with wire used for structural support. The trail leading from the river to lower Dark View
Falls is 320 feet long. The trail from the lower falls to the Upper falls is 520 feet. Except for 60 feet after leaving the bridge, the first trail is relatively flat until the approach to the pool of the lower fall, which drops between 7 feet and 10 feet below the highest level of the trail.
The second trail is relatively flat for the initial 200 feet (from an elevation of 114 feet to 134 feet). However, the last part of the trail
rises to about 100 feet in elevation over a distance of 320 feet.
The Falls, which attract hummingbirds all year round, are part of the Richmond river system and are most picturesque with the vegetation that surrounds the rather secluded waterfall.
There is a public washroom and area designated for parking. Dark View Falls are approximately 24 miles from Kingstown.
Upper Rabacca Falls
Alongthe banks ofthe Rabacca River on the Windward side, there are three separate waterfalls. Access to the beginning of the trail is via the
road to the Soufriere Volcano, with the turn off to the left through the banana plantation track.
The first waterfall is three tiered, gently flowing with a drop of only ten feet called "Kiss Me".
The second is called "Hell's Gate" which is a fast flowing gust of water dropping some thirty feet into a pool below.
The third is"The Bedroom",similar to the second but drops into a narrow rock canyon which enhances the flow of the water. Access to the taller two falls for bathing is somewhat difficult, but certainly possible and very rewarding.
These falls are approximately 23 miles from Kingstown.
